Winter's still here in Alaska, and what a winter it's been! Record snowfalls have people shoveling and plowing to dig themselves out. Roofs have to be cleared in some places to keep buildings from collapsing. Over 20 feet of snow has fallen in Valdez and Cordova's coming in a close second. We've also had below average temps until now...the past few days has seen a warming trend in Southcentral Alaska, so a lot of snow will melt here and there, refreezing and leaving icy roads.
Why do we put up with this kind of weather you may ask? We love it here! There's skiing, snow machining, ice skating and more in the winter, which are great fun for many. But it's those summers with their long days that make it all worthwhile---hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking, river boating, and rafting are some of the family adventures we love to experience. Tune in again as the spring and summer approach to find out more about our latest adventures.
